Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 September 2026. This page explains how DutchLessonsOnline collects, uses, and protects your personal data.

Who we are

DutchLessonsOnline (dutchlessonsonline.com) provides self-paced online Dutch language courses. For any question about this policy or about your personal data, you can reach us at contact@dutchlessonsonline.com.

[Add here: your registered business name, registered address, Chamber of Commerce (KVK) number, and VAT number, if applicable.]

What personal data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Order and account data: name, email address, and billing details you provide when purchasing a course or creating an account.
  • Payment data: your payment is processed directly by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details ourselves.
  • Contact form data: the name, email address, phone number, and message you submit through our contact form.
  • Technical data: basic information such as your IP address and browser type, collected automatically by our hosting and security systems to keep the site running and secure.

We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If this changes in the future, this policy and our cookie banner will be updated accordingly, and we will ask for your consent where required.

How we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • Process your order and give you access to the course(s) you purchased;
  • Respond to your questions sent through the contact form;
  • Meet our legal and accounting obligations (for example, invoicing and tax records);
  • Keep our website secure and working properly.

Legal basis for processing

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we process your data because it is necessary to perform our contract with you (delivering the course you purchased), to comply with a legal obligation (such as tax record-keeping), or because you have contacted us directly and we need your details to reply.

Who we share your data with

We only share personal data with service providers who help us run the business, and only to the extent needed for that purpose:

  • Stripe — to process payments securely;
  • Our hosting provider — to store the website and its data;
  • WooCommerce/WordPress — the software that runs our store and website.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

How long we keep your data

We keep order and invoice data for as long as required by Dutch tax law (generally seven years). Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your question, after which they are deleted.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data;
  • Ask us to delete your data, where this doesn't conflict with a legal obligation (such as tax records);
  • Ask us to restrict or object to certain processing;
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@dutchlessonsonline.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including serving our site over HTTPS and relying on reputable, PCI-compliant payment processing through Stripe so that we never handle your full card details ourselves.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
